I am going back over the 30 Day Challenge (which by the way is free) and writing out my notes as I apply the tips from each day of the challenge.
Day 4 goes over the final part of the market research stage; finding stuff to sell. The idea is to ensure that there are already affiliate programs selling stuff in your chosen niche. If there are affiliate programs then this shows to us that people are spending money. This is just a test, i.e. Ed advocates making your own product eventually but promoting affiliate programs first are good for testing if there really are buyers out there.
Finding an Affiliate Program
Some methods for finding affiliate programs.
Find at least 2 affiliate products to use for testing your niche.
Method 1 – google search
Just use google search and type “affiliate <your keyword phrase>”
Method 2 – affiliate programs
There are a lot of affiliate directories that promote hundreds of affiliate programs.
Here are some other ideas.
clickbank.com marketplace search
amazon.com search
- ensure that there are at least some books talking about your niche and people buying products or better still that there are magazines being sold in that niche.
Writing Copy That Will SELL Your Product
Ed and Dan mention that writing good copy that sells is the major stumbling block for most people starting online. Dan reveals his simple process and thought patterns for writing copy. “Practice makes perfect”.
You need to lead people to an action i.e. to buy from you.
Here is a good approach they both advocate using:
Use amazon to look up a product or book. Look at the product description and product reviews. The product descriptions are usually very dull. The product reviews are much more passionate and get to the real emotions of why people purchased the book or product in the first place.
TIP: You need to enter the conversation the reviewer/customer is having with themselves.
TIP: Save a picture of your product for your website for later.
Dan separates out individual features of the product description for writing his copy.
Use call to action words and phrases
Discover the real value of …

Uncover the..
Must have..
Make people feel they are part of a special group
If you are a serious (about being in this special group) …
Add a benefit to each of the features you obtained from the product description
Skyrocket your profits, gain the killer advantage, save you thousands of dollars
End with call to action and a hidden advantage over others.

Manipulating Images
The images from Amazon or Clickbank may be too large. You can use a product called picnik to resize the image. Amazon is typically 240 x 240 pixels. You typically will need 150 pixels across.
NB picnik.com is a 100% free image manipulation website.
