We believe that children are naturally excited by life and that we as adults tend to forget the excitement of discovery, adventure and learning. We believe than anyone can get that childhood excitement back, and that blogging and monthly and weekly challenges are perfect ways to do this.
Hi my name is +Danny Sheehan and I love to blog about the Excitement Of Life. My wife Maggie and I have two beautiful daughters who are even more excited by life. Our eldest daughter is an avid synchronized swimmer and appears on our logo. Our youngest daughter is a musician and plays the traditional Chinese erhu. We also adopted (sponsored) a new family member, a baby boy orangutan called Dodo.

I grew up in Southern Queensland in Australia on a Dairy farm. As a child I loved to go on daily adventures in the country, chasing kangaroos, building tree houses and building rafts to float on the river. It was an exciting and happy life, and I am sure I had more fun than Huckleberry Finn.
Inspiration for the title “excitedbylife” initially came after traveling to the outback of central Australia with a bus load of crazy 18-35 year olds. The catch cry of the tour was “I am excited by life”. Everyone loved the tour and we were all excited by Life by the end of the trip. Unfortunately the excitement did not last. It wasn’t until a decade later when I was sick and tired of being negative about life, morbidly over weight and wasting life that I decided to change and “get excited by life” again. The domain name excitedbylife.com was registered. Life has been an evolutionary process for Maggie and me, both from Bricks and Mortar business owners and onto Blogging.
I have a background in software development and UNIX administration. Maggie previously built a profitable coaching college that helped “English as a second language” (ESL) students to improve their academic results. We both studied information technology and engineering at University and share a love of learning and discovery.
I am currently taking a year off work to regain my health and to follow some long neglected dreams and passions in Life. After 25 continuous years working in Information Technology it is time for a break.
