Our belief at excitedbylife.com is that our best teachers in Life are our children. Adora Svitak, is a modern day child prodigy. The following Ted presentation was filmed when she was just 12. We learnt so much from watching Adora. Let us know what you think?
About Adora
She could read from age of 4 and was an active blogger since the age of 7. She is now a popular author and teacher at just 12!
Quick Notes
- Adults call children “childish” – But there are many examples showing that age has nothing to do with irresponsibility or with responsibility e.g. George Bush vs Ann Frank. Age has nothing to do with wisdom.
- Children still dream of perfection. Adults are largely jaded and give up on solving the worlds problems creatively. In order to make anything a reality you have to dream about it. Kids can teach us to dream again.
- Adults restrict kids – “don’t do that , don’t do this”. Children have no say in the rules. Don’t hold them back. Adults need to break the rules occasionally and think outside of the box.
- Adults underestimate children’s abilities. Some parents actively encourage their children to be more. Adora’s parents read her the works Aristotle and other great works. Adora was ign0red by publishers initially when she tried to publish her first book at age 8. It eventually got picked up by a publisher. The book is called “Flying Fingers” and is now a best seller. Never underestimate anyone’s ability. Give everyone a chance.
