We all intrinsically know what foods are really good for us (fruit, vegetables and grains etc.) but there are some foods that stand out as stars in terms of their health benefits. The naturally occurring antioxidants (phytochemicals) in these foods are what makes them special. There are thousands of these compounds and many more yet to be discovered.
We collected together a few of our previous posts to give you the run down on the healthiest foods we have discovered so far.
Water
Surprised? Yes, we know water is not really a food, however if you feel sleepy all the time and lack energy try drinking more water – you are probably dehydrated. Drink more water to keep awake at work or study.
Chocolate
I am sure you are as happy as we were when we discovered that the cocoa in chocolate has many health benefits. It is literally “the food of the Gods”. Cocoa contains more phytochemicals than green tea and blueberries. Make sure you eat the low-sugar-high-cocoa content chocolates for the full benefit.
Broccoli Sprouts
Yep your mom was right broccoli sprouts are a healthy food. Broccoli Sprouts contain natural antibiotics that keep the bad stomach bacteria away.
Coffee
We hear so many bad reports about coffee and it’s effects, but in moderation coffee has some amazing health benefits. Research suggests that brewed coffee can help reduce the risk Alzheimer’s and also help protect the liver.
Blueberries
Blueberries are the health wonder of the berry kingdom with new scientific discoveries of their benefits discovered almost weekly. The latest research suggest that blueberries can help reduce your belly fat.
That’s all for the moment – as new scientific research comes to light we will add more healthy foods to our list. So please check back often.
